In Untitled: "Shame" I aim to draw attention an area of feminism that gets largely ignored - teen pregnancy. Teen pregnancy is, by and large, considered by Western society to be the lowest of the low, but we never stop to consider the feelings of the pregnant girl. How she is treated by the patriarchal institutions that control her, the family, the school, religion. The fact is, that it is a biological reality for menstruating sexually active girls to potentially become pregnant. For males involved in teen pregnancy life is comparatively different, they can simply walk away and will never endure the shame piled onto their impregnated conquest. A photo such as this would unlikely be given to grandparents or hung on a wall in the family home, because in patriarchal society the woman who creates life out of the prescribed ideal is abject and therefore must be hidden.
